Script Open Close: Hwaeomsa Temple and Its Founder's Filial Piety. (천년고찰 화엄사, 효를 생각하다.) Hwaeomsa Temple Historic Site No. 505 A historic temple located in Gurye, Jeollanam-do, The site of four National Treasures and eight Treasures. Gakhwangjeon Hall National Treasure No. 67 Stone Lantern in front of Gakhwangjeon Hall National Treasure No. 12 Three-story Four-Lion Stone Pagoda National Treasure No. 35 Celestial maids are inscribed on the pedestal, and the pagoda is supported by the four lions. At the center of the four statues of lions is a statue of a woman with her palms clasped together. Inside the stone lantern is a statue of a male monk kneeling. The male monk is the Buddhist priest Yeongi, the founder of the temple, the woman in the pagoda his mother. The monk expressed himself as sering tea to his mother to pray for her happiness in heaven. A temple of filial piety, Hwaeomsa Temple.
