1,000 years during life and 1,000 years after death Colony of Yews in Mt. Sobaek Mt. Sobaek Colony of Yews in Mt. Sobaek, Natural Monument No. 244 The colony of yews in Mt. Sobaek is located in the west from the top of Mt. Sobaek. This is a representative colony of yews in Korea and 3,800 yews grow in Mt. Sobaek. Yews are named after their red stems and grow in higher mountains, having a longer life. Yews in Mt. Sobaek are bent by strong winds and their branches are wound and took a peculiar shape. Even though the branches seem to be dead, the green leaves show a strong life force. Yews do not decay well and you can see the yews which keep their seats even after death in Mt. Sobaek. At a high place of Mt. Sobaek, Meeting the yews which wait for one thousand years
